Primroses

The weather here has been dry for quite a few days now so the primroses in the garden were particularly fresh and lovely.

My bathroom is the room, like my kitchen, that gets the most light. I'm lucky my garden is south facing, something that never occured to me when we first viewed this house but now in hindsight it's somthing I am very grateful for.

They say it just dosn't feel ike spring until the primroses flower.

Nice to bring a touch of spring into the house.

Being as the primrose is actually a herb I thought I would team it with a few fellow herbs:- feverfew, marjoram and marjoram twigs.

In the middle ages primroses were used to treat gout and rheumatism, today it is used as a mild sedative. The flowers can also be used in salads, although I haven't tried them... yet.

  1. Your primroses are so sweet. Somehow I always think of them as "English primroses" - I think my aunt called them that. They don't grow well here - too hot and humid in the summer - so they are one of the things that I really, REALLY want! Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a lovely delicate post. I know what you mean about the southside. Here in Australia we are into turning everything to the north for the same reason. Happy Spring! I hope you enjoy it.

I am going to post you under the 'Blogs I Love' heading over at mine, as your post has made me smile.

    Best wishes Carolyn

  3. What lovely color on those primroses! Great pictures too. Do you study the medicinal properties of plants? I am currently reading the Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters, and I am intrigued.
