Golden Showers

Well the title of this post is very apt today, so far July has been a bit of a wash out with dull days and rain and I am seeing the benefits of a digital SLR camera, my point and shoot is not coping with the lack of light.

This Rose is called Golden Showers and although not a perfectly formed rose I think has a wonderful colour and alot of character, it is also great for shade and does really well on my north facing front garden.

I love how it looks on my mantel with the old oddities I pick up on my vintage hunts.

I think I have mentioned before that I like to mix glass, wood and silver but in my living room there are also touches of gold.

I found this little photo of Venice recently at one of my local jumble sales.

  3. Hello Deborah:
Yes, the free spirited form of 'Golden Showers' is very attractive and is much more preferable in our eyes than the stiffer Hybrid Tea Roses. The buttery yellow is delightful and adds a bright flash of light to your most interesting collection of vintage pieces.

The small Venice picture is absolutely lovely and looks well on the mantlepiece.

  4. Yes, the wet variety of showers have worked their way over my side of Norfolk this week too, and it's really quite cool as well. At least the pesky northerly wind has dropped today. And I suppose the ground does need the rain.. but the plants could do with some sun as well. Never happy!

  5. The rose is lovely--it looks sort of like a wildflower version of a rose, and that is the perfect shade of yellow. Looks wonderful on the mantle. By the way that is the cutest fireplace ever!

  7. See how happy we all are when you invite us in?

I have never heard of a rose that does well in shade.

Then again I have never heard of a rose that does well for me.

I will investigate this one. It is a charmer. As are you.

I love your blog - it is full of such beautiful coastal images - your daily morning walk along the beach looks divine! Your beachy decor is superb!

Love that rose - the Golden Shower - appropriate name - I'll have to see if I can grow them in South Florida where I live! Nice to find another beach-lover-blog!

    I'm your Newest FOLLOWER, too!

    Best Wishes,

    Linda
