New Additions

I have been out of luck with vintage finds recently but here are a few additions that I have added to my home recently.  This food cover came from my favourite little french shop 'The Bell Jar' I have seen the silver coloured ones about but I like the patina on this one so it came home with me.

I have been looking for some large vintage sweet/storage jars for a while and just could find ones big enough and whilst shopping in TK Max found these,  I made some tags using FIMO polymer clay, so I can tell the different between SR and P flour.  Sarah at a beach cottage does a tutorial of these but I just rolled the clay flat and using a cookie cutter made the shape then just made an impression with a cocktail stick for the letters.

A nice old marmalade jar.

and a couple of baking Pyrosil Ware dishes from the Netherlands, love the little blue pattern.

and a beautiful piece of coral, very please with this find at my local Jumble sale for only 50p a nice addition to my growing collection of textures on my mantel.

  1. Well as usual I am SO impressed with your skills and really think you are, well not wasted with your talents but that more people should be able to appreciate them. You have an perfect eye and I always look forward to your postings.
Wish we had a TK Maxx here, those jars look so vintage and fit in with all your other things just right. And I have never used the polymer clay, always been a bit wary of it and how you do it, but you make it sound so easy. Pardon the ignorance, but is it baked or just left to harden?

  8. I love those jars - how pretty they are! Pyrosil - is that the name used in Europe? We call it Pyrex here. DIfferent names for different markets?

    The coral is beautiful.

  9. Hello Deborah:
What you have not found in quantity you have surely made up for in quality. Your 'finds' are so very pretty and look so well alongside your other treasures.

We very much like the food cover and can imagine it taking pride of place at an afternoon tea encasing the most glorious Victoria Sponge!!

  10. Your containers are fabulous and i love the tags made out of clay!
Those casserole dishes from the Netherlands are what we call Pyrex here and they are made by Corning Ware.
You are very lucky finding treasures for your cottage and you do have a keen eye for detail.
Hope that you have a great weekend.

  14. Love all your new finds Deborah, but the coral leaps out at me, it is so pretty. Well done with the tags, you are a clever one. I saw 'The Bell Jar'mentioned in House and Garden' magazine. Katie Fontana, the owner of kitchen company 'Plain English' bought some rather lovely cushions there! I got all excited when I saw it! Have a wonderful weekend, love Linda x
