Flowers in the House

Its a beautiful June day here today, the sun is shining and the garden is full of flowers.

If fact so many I picked a large bunch to bring inside and enjoy and to share with others at Jane's, SmallButCharming for Flowers in the House.

I have a bit of everything here, the Chive flower, blue Campanular, Arum Lily, blue Geranium, Alchemilla Mollis, a few Granny's Bonnet seed heads, Verbascum, white Peony and a Rose......

Not only is this a very beautiful rose it also has the most wonderful fragrance. It's a David Austin rose called 'Constance Spry'. It only flowers in the summer but is well worth growing just for the lovely scent, which Austin describes as having a strong myrrh fragrance, this I can vouch for as this one rose has filled my whole kitchen with a exotic spicy and licorice scent.

  2. Hello Deborah:
What a delightful bouquet you have collected from your garden and they look so pretty in the white china.

In our gardening days we were very fond of the David Austin roses which combined old-fashioned flowers with modern disease resistant foliage. A winning combination in our book. Your 'Constance Spry' looks lovely and, with its strong perfume, makes it well worth growing.

  5. My local garden centre has just got David Austin roses in. I'm desperate to get one, but I'm struggling finding the space... last night I sat in the garden at dusk, planning a whole new border just so I can get one... Your flowers look amazing! What a treat for the senses! Lx

  6. Deb, I don't know what I'm more in love with, your garden or your arrangement.

It gets so hot in Virginia it's hard going growing roses.

But you make me want to try just one David Austin...

Thanks for starting off our house party with such a sumptuous spread.

    xo Jane

  10. What country are you in Deb...it's cool, cloudy, dull and a little bit rainy here in North Bucks...Saturday was beautiful but haven't seen the sun since! Your flower arrangement is lovely, that's a great photo in front of the dresser. Robx

  11. Your arrangement is lovely! Chive blossoms! I have those and didn't even think of using them. One of my favorite smell memories from childhood is the spicy smell from my grandmothers roses. xo

  19. Deborah your green thumb is amazing. Your flowers and their arrangement never cease to amaze me. I have just got back from food shopping. I walked past the flowers and you came to my mind. I was thinking how wonderful it is that you don't need to buy them. Unfortunately in this coastal environment we are very limited with what is successful. I think it's a little laziness on my part too.
    Have a wonderful week
    Best Carolyn

  24. I do love Constance Spry also, mine is not blooming yet, but that could be due to the lack of sunshine we've had this spring. Your flowers are gorgeous!
