Love of White

When I first saw photos of the all white home I new it was the look I loved, its a wonderful backdrop to any flower.

and any texture.

It brings unity... once painted white it easily fits into my home.

This old copper coal bucket was given a coat of white and distressed... its now my recycling bin.

Beautiful white labels.

White tiles are always on special offer so I use them on mass.

An old pine wooden lid, painted white and distressed it now contrasts so well with the shiny tile.

  1. I can see that this colour scheme would be perfect for your cottage in the situation it's in. It wouldn't suit our house, or me to be honest. I love strong, jewel-like colours and this is what we have used throughout the house mainly. The one exception is our bedroom which is a sort of milky coffee colour which contrasts well with the faded old rose pink velvet curtains and antique dark wood furniture. I love the clean, sharpness of the all white in your house, and the way you have it all arranged is so perfect and artistic. Thank you for sharing once again and allowing us into your home.

  5. Lovely pictures, as always. I was scared off from white by an ex, who painted everything white and wanted the minimalist look. When we split up, I rebelled and went colour crazy. Now, white is creeping back in (mainly the bedrooms), but I'm mainly cream elsewhere. Seeing your place, I think I could be persuaded though.... That and the fact that I feel in love with a white and blue striped armchair in Next... If only I could get it over here!!! Lx

  9. Hello Deborah:
What a really attractive and beautifully presented blog in which, having read through several of your recent posts, you cover a wide range of topics and present us with some lovely images.

Here all the whites do make for impact and you have arranged several disparate and unusual items to very good effect. We love so many of your ideas and will look forward to more.

  10. These images are such a breath of fresh air for me as I live in a very dark arts and crafts bungalow, which has waiscotting and beams that are all stained dark...as it is a heritage registered home they must stay as they are.

I love my home but it is so nice to see a light and airy cottage such as yours!

    Your blog is lovely.

  11. I love white because it is a great backdrop for art. The best. I collect art, it's my passion.
Vintage white objects showcase character and make a home look warm, welcoming and lived in.If I could do it all over again I would do my home in vintage white. You know I love these photos, you inspire me as always.

  13. It's funny, I used to be so anti white, but as I get older I really appreciate the simplicity of it, and the way it shows up the subtlest of colours, but mostly for the lightness and brightness it brings. I just love your home and the way uou photograph it. I have recently changed my kitchen to white and I must say, I really love it! Enjoy your weekend, love Linda x

  25. At my cabin we try to paint as many rooms and thing as possible white. We just find that the color white increases our mood. Who would want a cabin to be painted all black? Black is a depressing color.
